I know this is going to get active soon. Every week I get an update on how we're doing on our room block and we're already hovering around 80% filled on our room block. I'm waiting until we hit 90%+ then I'm going to see if the Hyatt is willing to release any more rooms for us.

If the Hyatt says no on adding any more rooms I'll speak with the Marriott since the Riverwalk hotel is literally across the street from the Hyatt. We are still on great terms with the Marriott (they really, really wanted us to stay) so I'll see what kind of deal they can offer for Overflow but there's no way I can guarantee the same $109/night.

Already at 90%+. Marriott Riverwalk said they'll match the $109 rate so there will be a backup hotel. Riverwalk hotel is literally across the street from the Hyatt.

Hi Proz, this is slightly off topic, but a month or two ago I got an email from grand hyatt giving me the choice to opt in for different room upgrades for whatever amount per day. Do you know how they decide who gets the upgrade or is it just random?

I can't answer that question as I don't know anything involving Hyatt reservations.

So we can still reserve with the Hyatt?

You can still reserve with the Hyatt but all rooms about to be gone. Waiting on the Marriott to give us the reservation link.

Link on the the front page of the SJ website.

Heard back from the Marriott, the word on that Reservation link is "shortly".

I know on the Hyatt side that they're completely out of Doubles and just a few remaining King rooms.

WE ARE SOLD OUT ALL ROOMS AT THE GRAND HYATT!

I just tried to book at the Marriott and the rate being charged is $119 is this an over site or did they increase the price?

If you set it to 2 guests, it adds $10 a person per night which makes it $119. You have to set it to 1 guest to get the $109 rate.

I just tried the site and it is still $109.

Be sure to read the Hotel Info page as this is mention several times: http://www.san-japan.org/info/hotel

Next year it'll be $119 1 Guest for King/Double, $10 per additional guest.
2014 will be $129 but up to two people King/Double, then $10 per additional guest.

And in 2014, we will be allocated almost the entire hotel so we can be loud.

They will know what to expect. I don't know how loud they'll allow us to be since it is our first year in the Hyatt.

Why I said almost. We don't get all 3 floors where the panel rooms are, only 2 of them, but we'll have 4/5th of the sleeping rooms.

Tip to those wanting to stay at the Hyatt or Marriott:

Some people have been canceling their reservations so rooms do open up. Check the links to see if rooms are available.

Hyatt: http://bit.ly/sj5hotel

Marriott: http://sjgo.co/sj5ovrflw

Okay, so I've been having this argument all week. Is check-in at 4 or 3? Hyatt's site says 4, SJ's site says 3.

Proz

Hyatt site will be right but usually for large events they'll allow earlier check-in if its like the Marriott.
