British dentistry is actually incredible in terms of tooth decay. It's the straightness and the yellowness they don't particularly care about.

Yup, not particularly merited in all cases, but all stereotypes do exist for a reason...
Take for example my future husband No. 1 down there, David Tennant. You look at his teeth, and they are by no means hideously crooked or awful looking. But if he were an American actor, there is no doubt that they would look much different. They would be evenly shaped, perfectly straight and perfectly pearly blocks of enamel, and probably all covered with porcelain veneers in order to look that way.
Same thing goes for future husband No. 2, Noel Fielding. He sort of has buck teeth, sure, but they don't look awful, in fact they look a damn sight better than mine did before I started my braces. But you can bet your boots were he an American actor, they'd insist on his teeth being fixed
I dunno, maybe it's just that overly straight teeth sort of creep me out. My teeth are even starting to get too straight for my own liking. But I'm straightening because they were causing me a lot of pain, so I'm guess I have to be fine with it. XD
