The only emulators I've ever used have been GBA, NES, and Sega Genesis emulators. As far as I knew they were legal, since they had an entire site dedicated to creating emulators of systems and games that, as far as I know, still exists.

Nope not legal at all, an IP is an IP and held by the retining copyright holder. IMO its not too bad because of many games costing so much money as a collectors item. However, IMO nothing will ever top the feel of the original system and cart with the controller in your hand. Save states are for PLAYERS WITH NO SKILL. Yeah I said it. Wanna fight about it? LOL j/k

But heck, you could also say video game cover bands are breaking copyright too, but for the most part I find it's not condemned by most of the design companies, but they are the biggest fans actually!
