I make Custom Costumes!

Hi, I'm a 31-year-old woman who recently graduated from fashion design school and I am available to make custom costumes.

Here are a couple of costumes I've made:

Ranma 1/2 Chinese-style shirt
Time required: a few weeks
Materials and Labor: 80$

Cassandra from Soul Calibur II
Time required: 6 months
Materials: paid by Cassie
Labor: 400$

I made the bodice and the collar, but not the accessories or boots. The gold applique designs were applied completely by hand.

I charge cost of materials plus 5$ an hour for the time I spend making the final version. I like to take my time and make the costume gorgeous, so my costumes take at least a few weeks to make.

Favorite materials to work with: Kona cotton, taffetta
Hard to work with: stretchy fabrics, slippery fabrics like silk and satin
Strengths: Beautifully finished seams, applique, beadwork
Weaknesses: Don't know much about exotic, expensive fabrics

I want to start working as soon as the holidays are done. If you're interested in having a costume made, post a picture of character you want to dress as. I only have enough time to make 3-6 costumes between now and SJ4, so don't wait or hesitate to contact me!

From looking at this, I estimate 35-50$ for materials, and labor might be 80$-150$, depending on how much detail and finishing you want on it. It doesn't look complicated at all, it might take a 2 weeks-a month to make. Let me know if that sounds good to you

Just how it looks in the picture is fine. 8D And I was just wanting the shirt/skirt/tie-like-thing. So no props. xD

Yeah, I actually prefer to meet in person. I meet you, measure/drape you, draft a pattern, make a practice version out of muslin, then you try it on and if you like it, then you buy the materials and I make the final version. I don't charge for the materials or labor to make the practice version, just for the time to make the final version.

I was wondering how much it would be to make a simple maid costume :3 maybe something like this I'm still unsure on how I want it to look @ ~ @ I just don't want it to be too expensive (400 dollars ouch! lol)) if you have any designs or anything like that I'd be glad to look at them! And I could buy the materials :3

A wild guesstimate on that costume would be 150-200$ for the labor, 50-70$ for the materials. I've never made a maid costume before, but I've made similar items in the past and that picture looks like something I can do. The only part that might drive the price way up would be if you want fabric ruffles. Those take FOREVER to make. A good alternative would be to use lace trim. I have a few samples of my past work I could show you before we start on the costume, so you can see what level I'm at.
