I've done the speed dating thing in the past, and i loved it, so I would definitely do it again if I go. I really hope I can go, but we'll see what happens. But yeah, I'd totally love to participate. :)

I agree with you. I think this should be taken seriously though, some people might want to have a date or something and to go then be let down because most took it as a fun game it could be depressing for someone to get heir hopes up. Some might do this for a date or for fun. It is called a game but still, you know what I mean?

Basically, I mean, unless you really want to have some sort of labeling system (like maybe a colored flash card that indicates whether you are serious or not?), I think the best way to think of this is to, you know, simply be yourself. I mean, who knows? It's totally possible for two people to go totally not thinking anything would become of it, but maybe after some conversations things work out? I mean, that's kinda life ye?

It's certainly an interesting idea, this event we're speaking of. I know I won't be attending though. Not so much because of "Hurrrr, sausage fest!" but more because of the constant busyness that is my work schedule during peak-con hours that something like this could happen.

Bit of a shame, I kind of like meeting new people.

I totally agree. I've never been to a speed dating event but I think if everyone gets a card they can fill out like looking for friends or dating,
and age that way even if you don't connect with someone to date or don't want to it will still be fun.

At a previous con I signed up for that Anime Dating Game, thinking it was for real. I didn't realize until after it was over that it had actually been some sort of improv sketch comedy type thing, and there were no real dates to be had. How disappointing...

That's why we say to act 70% in character. If it were a dating game where the end result is a date, we wouldn't do the whole in character thing. About 40% of people who've been in the Cosplay Dating Game are already in a relationship.
