He meant the mcdonalds downtown. No drive thru and is currently doing construction. i'll let you know when it's open again.
as far the list goes it's pretty spot on. plus i know where the coffee shops are downtown for the morning so i'll post them when i get the address' Lonestar is a good choice as well it's a tourist trap put its still good food. and by the subway is a icecream shop and it has a great crousant sandwich meal combo for 6 bucks.

As for the 21+ crowd i can show y'all a few bars downtown. ;D

EDIT: McDonalds is reopened and looks a whole lot better. Also there is now a Whataburger downtown.

I think they also have a salad bar but it is hard to get excited by that.

Yes, it is pricey, but completely worth it.

Yes, it is pricey, but completely worth it.

They do have a salad bar, WHICH IS AMAZING BY THE WAY!, but yeah, it's totally like 30 per person during lunch, I think 40 for dinner. So, yeah, if you're willing to spend San Japan admission for dinner, then I would heavily suggest it. It's an experience like no other.

Also, if you're willing to travel a bit and have a group, I highly suggest Luther's. It's right next to SAC, and they have these amazing "King Kong nachos" that are like...I think 5 to 8 bucks, but enough to feed like 6 people. And they aren't just bland chips with some melty queso and microwaved beef; they come fully loaded with tons of freshly-cooked stuff on them.

A personal favorite of mine is ChaCho's but its 15 minutes from the convention if you go to the one in Medical District or 410NW location. Open 24 hours. The King Kong nachos for about $20 can easily fill 6-8 people. Also, I love their salsas a lot.

side note: There used to be one who came around my neighborhood. The ice-cream man that drove by there also sold frito pies but not the one around my new house! The horror! D8

The hotel itself does have a sushi restaurant, more like "tex-mex fusion sushi" downstairs but it is pricey.

Also, the list in Guidebook has been updated with more nearby locations. I know there's a LOT more that could have been listed but I put in consideration of the attendees who have $50 to their name for all 3 days.
