  1. How much will it cost to pre-register for the convention? What forms of payment are accepted?
  2. Do I have to reserve a hotel room or be in a costume/cosplay in order to attend San Japan?

Registration Questions

  1. How much will it cost to pre-register for the convention? What forms of payment are accepted?
    Pre-Registration will cost the following amount:

    • $30 Early Pre-Registration up until Feb. 20th, 2010
    • $35 Pre-Registration up until April 10th, 2010
    • $40 Pre-Registration up until June 10th, 2010

    For Pre-Registration, we will accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Debit cards, and E-Checks via PayPal. We do not charge any service fee if you pay online. Mail-in Pre-Registrations can send in personal checks and money orders. If you are paying by check or money order, the mail in address is: San Japan, c/o Registration, P.O. 777, Denton, TX 76207. Cash, personal checks, and money orders will be accepted at the door. We will try to accept credit cards at the door of the convention but this is not guaranteed.Back to top


  2. Do I have to reserve a hotel room or be in a costume/cosplay in order to attend San Japan? No, you do not have to reserve a hotel room in order to attend. Cosplaying is completely optional and it is not required at all. All you have to do is show up at the convention as yourself. We do encourage attendees to reserve a room at the Marriott which is quite beneficial for San Japan since we are required to fulfill a large room block in order to hold the convention at the hotel (only $117/night) [Reservation Link]. However, you are not required at all to reserve a room at the convention in order to pre-register or attend the convention. Back to top


  3. I Pre-Registered using a payment method requiring mailing. Can I just bring it to the convention? Please mail the payment to us. The Pre-Registration price for mailed payment is based on the post-marked date of the payment. Any Pre-Registration payments received and postmarked after June 10th, 2010 will be considered delinquent and charged full admission at the door. Back to top

  4. What if my check bounces? We understand that these things happen sometimes, however, we will be required to charge you a $30 bounced-check fee, as this is what our bank charges us. You will be given every opportunity to settle the debt, but your membership will be revoked until the debt is settled. Back to top


  5. What do I need to check-in if I'm Pre-Registered? Please have your Pre-Registration Payment Confirmation email/page printed out which will help us out tremendously. If you don't have the print out then you will need a valid government-issued photo identification that has your real name and birth date on it. Examples of valid IDs are a driver's license or state ID, military ID, passport or national ID (for foreign guests). Back to top


  6. How will I receive a confirmation of my Pre-Registration? Will I get any kind of "ticket" or membership information in the mail? If you pay online, you will receive an e-mail confirmation of your registration. If you pay by mail, you will receive an e-mail confirmation of your registration. You do not need to fill-out a form by hand this year! Go to http://sanjapan3.reg-it.org to fill out the registration form, enter in all of your information, print it out when it prompts for Mail-In Payment once you are done then mail it in along with your payment. To claim your badge, take your valid government-issued photo identification and/or Pre-Registration Payment Confirmation email/page to Registration where the staff will look it up for you.   7. What if I don't have/don't have access to a goverment-issued photo ID or School ID? In this case, please bring your Pre-Registration Payment Confirmation email/page to claim your badge. However, State IDs are very easy to obtain for all ages. Back to top


  8. What do I need to Register at the door? Just your smiling self and money. IDs are not required to Register at the door if you're paying for a normal membership. We are strongly encouraging as many people as possible to Pre-Register to get the guaranteed lowest convention member badge rate. Payment for sure accepted at the door will to be accepted in the form of Cash, Check, or Money Order. There is an ATM in the hotel lobby and surrounding area. Back to top


  9. I will be unable to attend San Japan. Can I get a refund? Please direct refund requests to the Registration Director before June 20th, 2010. Any requests after that time and we will be unable to issue any refunds or credits. If paid by Paypal, the cut off for refunds is June 30th, 2010. Back to top

  11. I can only make it to the convention on X day. Will One-Day memberships be available? Yes, one day memberships are available. Please see the Registration table at the convention for more information. Passes will be the following prices AT THE Door:
    • $45 - 3-Day Pass
    • $30 - Friday - 1-Day Badge
    • $30 - Saturday - 1-Day Badge
    • $20 - Sunday - 1-Day Badge
    • $25 - 3 Day Membership Age 5-12 Friday / Saturday / Sunday
    • $15 - 1 Day Membership Age 5-12 Friday / Saturday / Sunday
    • Accompanying Parent Pass of Child - $35 3-Day Weekend Pass / $25 Day Pass Friday/Saturday - $15 Sunday
    • FREE for anyone 4 years old and under
    • $5 Military Discount with VALID MILITARY ID (ACTIVE MILITARY ONLY) will be given At Door Only (Does not apply to pre-registration).

  12. Where do I go to pickup/get my badge? Registration will be located by the Dealer Room on the third floor of Marriott Rivercenter Hotel. Pre-Reg pickup is available on Thursday at 9pm-11:55pm. Normal Registration/Pre-Registration pickup will open on Friday at 9am-9pm, Saturday 8:30am-7:30pm and Sunday 10am-2pm. Please note that all times are when Registration will be open but we might be open later if there are a lot of people still wanting badges when we're scheduled to close. Back to top


  13. Do I have to pick up my pre-registration badge on Thursday or Friday of the convention? NO. You do not have to show up at the convention on Thursday or Friday. You can pick up your convention badge at any time during the duration of the convention when Registration is open during the convention.

  15. I paid by check; why hasn't my check cleared yet? We process checks received in batches. Processing time may vary from anywhere between a a week and up to three weeks depending on how busy we are or able to check the P.O. Box. However, all received Pre-Registrations are entered into our system as having been paid as soon as they are received. It is recommended to use the online registration to guarantee an immediate registration. Back to top


  16. What is a Gold Pass? What are the benefits of purchasing a Gold Pass? People who purchase the ‘Gold Pass’ will get the following benefits:
    • First in line for all major events including the concert and cosplay masquerade.
    • An exclusive oversize badge to show your support for San Japan.
    • An exclusive autograph session with all of the guests.
    • Exclusive early access to the dealers room 30 minutes before regular attendees.
    • Exclusive gift bag of freebies including full anime DVD.
    • Sunday lunch with all of the attending guests.
    • Includes the regular benefits of a regular attendee badge to attend all events.

    Gold Passes will be $85 if you pre-register on-line and $95 at the door with a limit of 125 passes total for sale. Back to top
