Hixxy

Overseas Music Act

Ian Hicks, better known worldwide as Hixxy, is one of the most influential figures in the global rave, hard dance, and hardcore music scene. Hailing from Portsmouth, UK, his career spans well over 3 decades, during which he has helped shape the sound and culture of electronic dance music while building one of the genre’s most enduring legacies.

Hixxy’s production career began in 1993 with his debut release, “People’s Party,” alongside Sunset Regime. The track quickly gained support from influential DJs, including Carl Cox, Grooverider, Slipmatt, and Ramos, launching his career behind the decks and establishing him as one of the UK’s rising talents.

His defining breakthrough came in 1995 with the release of “Toytown,” a record that helped redefine the UK rave scene. Released on his own label, Essential Platinum, it laid the foundation for what would become an extraordinary career as both a producer and label owner. In 1996, Hixxy partnered with React Music to create the legendary Bonkers album series. The franchise became one of the most iconic brands in hardcore music, with Bonkers 3 achieving Gold status in the UK after selling more than 100,000 physical copies.

He later spearheaded the hugely successful Clubland X-Treme Hardcore series with AATW/Universal. Across nine albums, five achieved Gold certification, two earned Silver status, and two reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, with every release entering the UK Top 20. To this day, Hixxy remains the biggest combined-selling album artist in the history of the hardcore scene.

As a producer, Hixxy has released music through some of the industry’s biggest labels, including Universal, All Around The World, Monstercat, Warner UK, East West, Perfecto, Armada, Sony, Ministry of Sound, and his own highly acclaimed imprint, RaverBaby. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with leading artists such as Darren Styles, Gammer, Ben Nicky, Dario G, Re-Con, Dougal, Stonebank, and Code Black, among many others.

His work as a remixer has seen him reimagine tracks for an equally diverse range of artists, delivering official remixes for names including Darude, Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren, Becky Hill, Gareth Emery, and t.A.T.u.

Hixxy has also enjoyed a distinguished broadcasting career. From his early radio shows on Kiss 100 FM to a celebrated guest mix on BBC Radio 1, his reputation extended well beyond the club scene. Following that Radio 1 appearance, legendary broadcaster John Peel described the mix as “one of the best things I’ve ever had on my show.” In 2018, Hixxy joined Rinse FM, where he continued to champion the music, later winning the Best Radio/Podcast award at the 2022 Hardcore Awards. His contributions to the genre have been recognized repeatedly throughout his career. Hixxy has received Outstanding Contribution and Lifetime Achievement honors on seven occasions at the Hardcore Heaven Awards, while his label RaverBaby was voted Best Label for seven consecutive years.

As a performer, Hixxy has appeared at many of the world’s most prestigious festivals and events, including EDC Las Vegas, Knockout Sydney, Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown, Creamfields, Rampage Belgium, Karnival Melbourne, Planet Love Festival, and Uproar Amsterdam. More than three decades into his career, Hixxy remains one of hardcore music’s defining artists. His productions have provided the soundtrack to generations of ravers, and his influence continues to inspire both audiences and the next generation of producers and DJs around the world.
